While now editing and helping others to complete article submissions or book chapters and to produce grant proposals, my prior career prepared me well.
My career, which began in 1970, has included research, evaluation/assessment, training, workforce development, organizational development in the fields of psychiatric rehabilitation and mental health services; earlier experiences included housing development, community organizing, and long-term care advocacy.
My passion has been to facilitate, where possible, raising the voices of people living with disabilities and chronic illnesses and their families to assure that policies and supports in their communities truly reflect and respect their stated needs.
Knowledge exchange activities have included working with people nationally through Matrix Research Institute for 20 years (whose founder was also a Founding Board member of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association); international activities included people from Canada, Japan, Pakistan, Australia, and New Zealand.
Though now retired, some consultation activities continue -- Program Evaluation with The Recovery House in Karachi Pakistan, Consulting Editor with the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Journal, and Advisory Board Member of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association.
